Returning home after work can feel overwhelming with a long list of household chores, errands and other to-do tasks. It can be tempting to simply fall on the couch and binge watch Netflix, but doing that means you lose that free time to do what you have to do and what you want to do. These six hacks will empower you to be unbelievably productive in the evenings:

Take a break before starting.

After the work day is over, a small 20-minute relaxation period can play a major role in your productivity during the next few hours.

Write down your goals.

Prior to your long night, jot down the two to three most important tasks for improved productivity. Statistics show that people who write down their goals have over an 80% higher success rate of achieving them!

Eat dinner.

Make sure you eat dinner! Not eating can set you back cognitively, resulting in less-than-excellent work due to lack of energy.

Exercise before beginning.

Studies have shown that all forms of exercise can increase cognitive abilities and overall energy. With more energy and a clear mind, you’re more likely to produce better results and be more productive.

Don’t work in your bedroom.

Working in your bed can make your brain associate your bedroom as a place for work, not sleep, according to Lifehack. This can result in lost sleep and an inability to turn off when you go to bed.

Dress for success.

Pajamas might be tempting, but dressing for work actually heights your attention and makes you more focused on the tasks ahead. Instead of sweatpants, try jeans and a shirt for maximum productivity. Remember – look good, feel good, do good.
