Habits_to_Quit_to_be_Successful.jpg

Have you ever thought “why am I not reaching my goals or successful in my job?” If you have thought this, it is time to self reflect. Many times it is simple things that keep us from reaching our goals and becoming successful. Don’t let those little things keep you from dreaming big. Quit these 7 bad habits, and in return, you will find success around every corner.

1. Eliminate Your Negative Thinking:
Ralph Waldo Emerson, an American essayist, lecturer and poet, once said “You are what you think all day long.” If you are constantly thinking negative thoughts, then you will become a negative person. Remove the negative influences in your life and you will find yourself thinking positively more often.

2. Focus On What’s Important:
If everything in your life was taken from you, there are only a couple things, you would still have; love, hope, faith and your word. “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.” -Bob Marley

3. Quit Thinking You Already Know The Answer:
“Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow” -Anthony J. D’Angelo. You are never too old to learn. Even if you do know the answer or have a comment relating to the discussion, that doesn’t mean it needs to be said. Being humble and willing to learn is very appealing, especially to employers.

4. Eliminate Your Fear Of Failure:
The fear of failure comes from the fear of disappointment. You will not be able to please everyone, and that is okay. Robert Allen said, “There is no failure. Only feedback.” Don’t associate a mistake or shortcoming as failure, but rather as an opportunity to grow.

5. Don’t Forget Your Long Term Vision:
Going back to what Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “You are what you think all day long.” If you focus on short term things, and are constantly wrapped up in the present you won’t ever see your long term goal achieved. Stop and remind yourself of the bigger picture.

6. Stop Not Valuing The Small Beginnings:
Everyone has to start somewhere. Becoming successful does not happen overnight. Most successful business owners started by working a low-paying part time position for the company they now own.

7. Stop Being Too Involved And Willing To Help:
Having a servant’s heart and being willing to help is a great quality to have, and most employers look for that. However, there is a fine line to walk. The simple truth is, everyone does not need to know or be involved in everything. Having the balance of knowing when to help and when to just stay back makes people feel like they can trust you.
